For underground gas pipelines painting with 2-pack epoxy is OK or not?

Paint as a protection for underground pipelines is has not in the past be considered a very good protection due to damage during handling and specially during the lowering in and back filling operations. Rocks and other debris that are in the pipeline trench and backfill pose a very specific danger.

Most pipeline coatings are very thick for this reason and have a certain about of flexibility.

Because of the consequences of a pipe failure, you would do well to use a more conventional and proven coating.

There are several available and information is available on the web.For underground gas pipelines painting with 2-pack epoxy is OK or not?
hello,

the epoxy paint is consedered best for withstanding corrosive environment, but unfortunatly it is not flixible, once cured (dry) it becomes rigid and with some soil movement, this may cause cracking in the paint layers, which will lead to corrosion.

a good replacement is polyurethane based paints, which are much flixible and also corrosion resisant.
