Is epoxy paint safe for painting kitchen counters?

I'd like to paint my laminate kitchen counters. Anyone tried to do this? Results? Is epoxy paint safe for painting kitchen counters?
Extremely tricky to do this. Not necessarily recommended. You really need to find a food safe epoxy/paint. Just using products that you can find at a paint store will not work and hold up well at all. There are a few products our there on the market for this (hard to find, need to call your local kitchen refinishing or specialty paint store). The products meant for this are extremely expensive and it will be much cheaper to simply replace the laminate counters yourself. We replaced our countertops with the prefab ones at home depot or lowes (can't remember) and they were very inexpensive and have worked awesome. Also, it's a ton easier than you would think to replace your countertops. Good luck.

Yes. There are epoxy that are great for counter top. But they are not as strong as you think but stronger than regular paint. Rustoleum, insulux, and other makes a product dedicated for counter tops. The problem is if you make a epoxy to strong it will crack when the counter top flexes or expand and contracts with humidity(all wood does this). The good thing is when you paint the counter tops it gives the kitchen a whole new look that is relativly cheap. Do not place hot items right off the stove onto this surface.
100% solids epoxy is food safe, but isn't great for kitchen counters because epoxies aren't very heat resistant. Use an electric skillet or set a hot pan on the epoxy and it'll be damaged. There are certain coatings suitable for countertops but they are expensive and not worth it IMO.
